Positura is a Leicestershire based company. Do you just cover this area?
No. We have the benefit of being fairly centrally-based within the UK and therefore a number of counties, in addition to Leicestershire, are within easy reach, such as Northamptonshire, Rutland, Warwickshire, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire. If your company is based outside of these areas, please contact us for further information.
Positura uses chiropractors to carry out their assessments. Are they also trained to carry out workstation and DSE assessments?
Yes. Our chiropractors have extensive knowledge of office ergonomics and have all completed DSE assessor training. Combining their knowledge of the musculoskeletal system and office ergonomics greatly enhances the benefit of each assessment.
Who is required to have a DSE assessment?
Anyone who is classed as a DSE user must have their workstation analysed to assess and reduce risks, in order to comply with the Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992.
Who is classed as a DSE User?
Anyone who regularly (daily) uses DSE for periods of an hour or more at a time are generally classed as DSE users. For more information, click here.
Do the regulations also apply to people who work from home?
Yes. The Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992 also apply to people who work from home, if during this work they would be classed as a DSE user.
What are the ‘risks’ with DSE?
The principle health risks associated with overuse or improper use of DSE are physical (musculoskeletal) problems, such as backache, neck pain and upper limb disorders, eye strain, mental stress and fatigue. These problems can also be experienced as a result of poorly designed workstations or work environments. Risks to DSE users should be low if the DSE regulations are complied with. For more information click here.
I have just moved to a different workstation, do I need to have another DSE assessment?
Yes. DSE assessments need to be reviewed if a user changes workstation, or there are major changes made to equipment, furniture, work environment or software. For more information click here.

I am looking to implement a Healthy Workplace Program for my company, can you help?
Positura are ideally suited to form part of your healthy workplace initiative. We specialise in diagnosing, preventing and managing work-related musculoskeletal disorders, that are estimated to affect 1.2 million people each year, resulting in over 9 million lost working days. Through our DSE, ergonomic and health assessments, we can help reduce the financial burden that is placed on UK business as a result of musculoskeletal disorders. Contact us to discuss your healthy workplace program in more detail.
Can you provide assessments for any given number of staff?
Yes. Positura can put together a bespoke package for your company, based on your needs. From DSE assessments through to full ergonomic and health assessments, contact us to see how we can help. For more information on whole company assessments click here.
I have a work-related musculoskeletal disorder. How can Positura help?
We can carry out a musculoskeletal health assessment to determine exactly what is causing your pain or discomfort. For example, as chiropractors we can diagnose not just the fact that you have neck pain, but the individual structures that may be involved, such as which muscles or joints. We then complete the appropriate workstation assessment for your needs, and tailor our advice so as to be of maximum benefit to reduce or alleviate your musculoskeletal discomfort. For more information click here.
If I have a musculoskeletal health assessment, will I receive any treatment?
No. We are not able to provide any treatment during your musculoskeletal health assessment. If required, we may be able to offer advice on suitable treatment options for a musculoskeletal disorder but Positura holds no responsibility for any treatment sought.
I think I have poor posture, how can your postural assessment help me?
Sometimes we may be aware that our posture isn’t as good as it could be but we are not always aware of the impact that this can have. Our postural assessments use photographic analysis of your standing posture and produce a report to show the areas of the body that are under strain due to poor posture. By then combining these findings with an ergonomic assessment, we may be able to identify areas of your workstation set-up that are contributing to or even causing your postural faults. For more information on our postural health assessments click here.
Are your health assessments carried out fully clothed?
Yes. You can remain in your usual work attire for both the musculoskeletal health assessment and the postural health assessment.
Can I just have a health assessment on its own?
No. All of our health assessments are offered in conjunction with one of our workstation assessments.
I’m curious, what does ‘Positura’ mean?
The word Positura comes from the Latin for posture.
